Six weeks ago I walked under these eleven cottonwoods feeling everything was so right,
And would remain that way,
Knowing my life partner had said she loved me and would stay . . .
But the strongest love won't hold a wandering heart:
She says she doesn't feel or act like a wife and is so sorry ,
I told her she has no idea how much I will miss her .
I will not hide my grief when I walk under these trees,
sorrow for my true love lost
