Interesting noise makers can be made by sticking dandelion leaves and
stems (with a slit 1/4 inch up the stem on your mouth side) in your
teeth and blowing outward.
Remaining Tasks to complete
before class: (1) Research Open Space and its importance as we get
more urbanized.. (2) Take some pictures of the many people who walk
at the Green Belt/Crown Hill. (3) Try to get some more pics of the
Black Fox (showing his silver undercoat). (4) Take some Photo's of
Special Places or Things (in Nature) that we will see on our walk.
Show them to the kids at the start of the walk. Give the kids a prize
if if they can spot them while we are out. Then give all the kids a
prize at the end (with their Parent's permission). (5) Research
the History of Crown Hill and the Green Belt (at the WR library).
(6) Possible topics to cover:
Angel Hankerchiefs
On mornings with heavy dew, the tall grass meadows near my home contain
glistening spider webs. Dew drops form on the strand, making the
entire web look like a set of pearl necklaces strung together. These
are my favorite mornings of the year; I usually only see them two or
three times a summer in the dry Colorado climate. I have read that
these pearl glistening spider webs have been called 'angel's
hankerchiefs'.
