13 December ~2009

The early light was making long shadows on the snow at Horse Rescue Saturday morning. It possessed a certain heavenly quality in my eyes, probably due to this being the sacred season, which is even more special here in Colorado.

Everybody went about their work quietly, doing what is needed without much fuss. I usually have a project or two in mind when I come, but take the time to visit the horses and walk the dogs through the ranch at the end of my shift. They understand what 'stay close' means, and have learned that the insides of the corrals are off limits.

So I spent the day volunteering then visiting my mother, both of which are good things. She has been saying how lonely she gets in her big house, and looks forward to my visits a great deal. I have some time off this Christmas, so probably will head up there a time or two more to spend the day with her.

After a nap I went to the Rose dancing until 1am. It was crowded, with several parties including a group of women at a bachelorette party. The band was talented and had a lady fiddler, and the DJ brought things up a notch during the band's midnight break. It was a fine day and night and caused me to spend this Sunday sleeping late and recovering from spent legs.
