22 November~2007
Ben and Maggie sat beside me in the cab of the pickup as we drove in the dark of the morning to horse rescue. It was cold and snowy and the warmth from the heater felt awful good.
Fresh tracks crisscrossed the fields, and I could see the comings and goings of the mice and rabbits and prairie dogs. I saw that at least one coyote had come in to try for his dinner.
Ben and Maggie spent the morning following me around or running in the field or waiting for me in their kennels in the truck bed.
It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving morning, with horses and dogs. Their humility and ability to naturally accept the spirit of the moment makes them fine teachers.
