28 October ~2009
Snow started last night while I took a date to dinner. Afterwards we went to the Mercury Cafe and danced until a few minutes to midnight, while it continued to snow outside. Winter nights are pefect for dancing, and there was a good vibe at the Mercury, like always. It got warm enough with all the energy that the upper windows were opened to cool it off some. There were plenty of people still dancing when we left. Tuesday nights at the Mercury are one of the treasures of living in this town.
My date is a good dancer, and we had a very nice evening.
It continued to snow all night. I took the bus to work to avoid the slick roads and the possibility of an accident. Its pretty nice to witness the city snowstorm from the stability of a 20,000 pound bus.
They let us off work early, and I went home via the light rail and downtown, making sure to stop by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some chocolate fuel to power my walk through downtown cold and snow.
When I got home at dusk I immediately took the dogs out to run in the snow. They were deliriously happy, and I remembered the time I witnessed the same behaviour in foxes during an early snow. A few years ago two foxes came running towards us in the Grove of Eleven Cottonwoods, nipping and lunging at each other, playing just like my border collie's were tonight.
