4 September ~2009

I have missed writing on these pages, but thought it better just to live this summer until I made it through some uncertainty in my life. Yesterday I had abdominal surgery for cancer. It went well, and that should be the end of it.

Just last week I spent three days above timberline, off trail, with my three border collies. I then went to four dances Friday through Tuesday. I did all this to have very fresh memories of the freedom of wandering the alpine with Ben, Maggie, and Mollie, and the the joy and passion of dancing, to motivate my journey back.

I have to give it time though, and be patient. My biggest goal right now is to walk the Greenbelt with the dogs again. I may have to take them one at a time for a while.

I have prided myself on independence for quite a few years, but it is sure nice to have somebody around that cares about you in times like this. I can't recall anticipating anything ever so much as the moment when my daughters walked through the door to see me after surgery.

And Ben and Maggie and Mollie were glad to see me when Amy and Alyssa brought me home this afternoon.
