03 September ~ 2007

This morning I got up early and went down to the Greenbelt with Ben and Maggie. The meadow was still wet from the thunderstorm we had last night. I went over to the edge, where tall bromegrass and willows mix, wondering if any spider webs were covered with pearl necklace water droplets. I found some 2 and 3 foot wide orb webs, highlighted in silver with the morning dew.

Ben and Maggie were drenched and I was wet from above my knees down, but it was a glorious still morning, and put me in a good mood the rest of the day.

Actually I can't recall when I have been in a bad mood. Time and the healing hand of God in nature has made the blues a distant memory. What I have before me is an unending string of mornings bright with the rising sun on the trees in my yard, tail wags and licks from my sunny dispositioned border collies, and the harvest of peace from being blessed with a simple life.

After my walk with the dogs and getting cleaned up I drove across town to take a woman on a first date. We have shared quite a few passionate dances and late evening talks, and I finally got the courage to ask her out. I was surprised when she said ok. ('really???,' I said).

We walked around the Botanic Gardens, which was still in summer bloom. I always thought that would be a nice place for a date, and her sweet nature made it even better.

We went out to eat and shared stories of our lives for a long time. It was a romantic day, and I dropped her off in the evening wishing I could spend more time with her.
