11 April ~2008
I have a weekend with nothing planned - no extra hours at work, no volunteer shifts or programs. It feels good. That leaves me plenty of time to walk - once last night on the greenbelt, and again early this morning. The rest of the day I plan to plant cool season crops in my garden - lettuce and beans and swiss chard and spinach and radishes, and take a nap. Then tonight I will go to a couple of dances.
I absolutely love my house, that is like a sanctuary for me and the dogs. It shows what different people my exwife and I became, that she could so easily leave this home and the greenbelt and her roots in this town and state behind. What I have always loved about this place - the mountains, the grove of cottonwoods, the book stores, the dance halls, the volunteer work, makes my live richer with each passing week and month and year.
When faced with the choice to leave I knew that this was where my home was, and remaining true to it meant peace and stability
The light broke out from behind the clouds just at sunset last night, bathing the cottonwood grove in a sacred yellow light. It could be seen what a special place it is there, that has framed the turns and rhythms of my life. If I can continue to walk through that grove the rest of my days, I will remain a happy man.
