5 April ~2009

Mollie went backpacking with me and Ben and Maggie on the second day she was with us, when she was seven weeks old.  She has really taken to it, and clearly has a wild heart like Ben does.  In the photo above, from today, she is leading the way with Ben following behind in the snow forest.

She has had a good teacher in Ben.  Sometimes I think she belongs to him more than she does me.  When I call her over and stroke her ears, she can't wait to get away and run over to be next to Ben.

That is something we both have in common, a  strong bond with this old wise dog.   Here you can see Mollie being sweet to him.

This has been a good weekend, even though it was snowy.  At least we didn't get the twelve inches they were predicting, although you can see from my photos, the foothills got plenty.

I stayed home from  the swing dance friday, but went to the Grizzly Rose last night, being in the  mood for some social life.  Late in the evening the band played My Girl, which has a good easy beat, and  was incredibly fun to dance to.  I had a talented partner, who was having a great time with that song.

More of these country bands should mix in a  few oldies that we all know,  especially  on the third or fourth set.  It  adds something to the  night.  A month or so ago  the Earl Wear band played Gloria by them, (enter userid of music, password of music) which also was a good triple step song - also very fun.

I feel fortunate to have the life that I do - several nights of dancing, rewarding volunteer work, and spending the rest of my time  with my  three borders in the freedom of the mountains.  (when I am not working on my garden).  It has come from being resilent when tough times hit, and knowing that things even out in time.  (karma)

After our long hike in the fresh snow I came home and fired up the wood stove and sat in front of it with the door open for quite a while.
