6 March ~2009
Last week we had a warm spell, so I watered my trees and then the lawns. Little Mollie had never seen a rotary sprinkler, and was fascinated and a little scared by it.
I later looked out the back window and saw Mollie was on the upstairs deck with Ben. She was standing on a cooler so she could see over the deck and spy on the pulsating sprinkler.
She is an treasure, a dog who loves everybody, and especially Ben. They are never apart, wandering around the backyard together just the same as they do on our wilderness trips. Ben maintains his old dog serenity, but I can tell he is likes the attention and affection this little pup gives him.Mollie has such a sweet disposition that Ben and Maggie took to her on the first day, when she went backpacking with us up into the aspens. Take a look at Maggie last September, with our new puppy. (below).
I like having overlap in my border collies, where the old dogs teach the young ones. When Maggie was a pup she treated old Bud like Mollie treats Ben.
All think a lot of me, because I am their care giver, their co-adventurer, the man who is always kind to them. They are fine partners for how I spend my best days - backpacking, walking on the Greenbelt, working on the garden.
